Tweet Trouble for MP
Dayne Nel and John Mathew
The Tweet was a picture of dogs lining up to urinate against a poster of President Jacob Zuma, with the words “Voting day, make your mark”, written on it.
“The Tweet is insulting to the president and to the majority of people who voted for the ANC in the recent election,” says Mshenxiswa.
“This action shows that the DA is a racist party that cannot be trusted by the people of this country.”
Waters has apologised on Twitter. He tweeted, “Hi all. If I offended anyone in any way I apologise.”
"I have removed the tweet," Waters told Whale Coast Media, "and in retrospect I realise how the picture could have been interpreted as offensive and I apologise unreservedly."
But, this seems to be just the newest Twitter misstep by the DA.
In February Helen Zille, DA leader, got into a Twitter spat with Carien du Plessis, a political journalist for City Press.
According to the SABC, the DA will now be reviewing its social media policy.
